If you are looking for a personal load, check with the bank you already do business with, especially with the branch where you do the most transactions as the tellers and staff may know you, making the process a bit easier.  It doesn't guarantee you will get approved, but at least you already have a foot in the door.

My experience in South Africa is that most Banks and Institutions will offer you a Loan when you don't need it, And have a 1 000 reasons for not giving you a Loan when you really need it.
