I always suggest you first visit a similar store in another area and see if the owner is willing to share with you their process. Calling a major shoe company is also a good place to gain information. Ask them their requirements to be a client.  Suggest you first determine your focus e.g.: mens women's etc then key brands you wish to represent. Then call each manufactures representative.
